On Sunday March 3, the North Kingstown High School Academic Decathlon team competed at Bryant University against 15 other teams and almost 200 individual competitors. This is the first time our team has won at the state competition.
The team took home first place in the overall competition and in the SuperQuiz event!! The team, consisting of Lily Borkman, Sydney Howell, Alice Dunning, Lucas Meier, Thea Carr, Allana Trombley, Artur Porto, Camdin Smith, alternates, Maggie Bush, Ryan Tagen, Sadie McCann, and Sophia Zaiceva, earned 21 individual medals: 9 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze.
In addition, Lily Borkman was the highest overall point scorer among all competitors in the Honors division and Lucas Meier was the highest overall point scorer among all competitors in the Scholastic Division.
The team is now headed to the Nationals, April 24-26, 2024 in Pittsburgh. Stay tuned!
