Not of the library, which was created by Caleb Allen Chadsey, who donated land on Brown Street and before he died in 1894, or the 1899 building on Brown Street, but of the current building on Boone Street.

Come celebrate with us! The event will run from 1 to 4 pm on Sunday, October 19. There will be food, coffee and tea, juice boxes for kids, music from keyboard players from the high school. At 1:30 there will be a short speaker series, NK Town Manager Ralph Mollis will welcome folks to the 50th birthday celebration, Former library director Susan Aylward will give a history of how the building came to be, current library board chair Will Valverde will speak about the library today and current library director Megan Weeden will wrap it up in time to enjoy a cake cutting to celebrate the anniversary at 2:30.

There will be activities for kids of all ages and other exhibits throughout the building. The Friends of the Library will have an information table near the book nook and they are also selling tickets for raffle baskets. The ticket drawing will happen at 3pm.
